What's the craic?

If you cross the continent of Europe westward, and cross a couple of channels, you are likely to arrive on the green isle of Ireland. Split into two, with the northern part still belonging to the British crown, and the southern a republic on its own, Ireland is a land mass with a deep history and a sometimes-simmering present. The last 10-15 years have seen a huge boomtime in the economy in the Republic of Ireland, especially in technology, commerce, and construction. Of course, the brewing industry has always been strong, with brands such as Guinness and Kilkenny maintaining international recognition, and Dublin pubs have long been the perfect place to explore and show your support for local enterprise!

At the core of Ireland's economic upturn is ancient Dublin, the largest city as well as the capital. A settlement has been in that location since as early as the first century BC, although what is closer to the city we know today was a town established in 841AD by Norsemen. In Georgian times, Dublin was the fifth-largest city in all of Europe. More recently, it was voted by European survey-takers to be the number one capital city in Europe to live in. It has also become a party town, as well as a very popular tourist destination, and a great place for people to move to permanently. The 'craic', or the fun, is plentiful all over Ireland, but especially so in Dublin. There is history, culture, and craic a-plenty. There has been no better time to look for Dublin hotels when planning a weekend away for business or just plain pleasure.

As with all major cities, different times of year mean different things are happening. It may be worth planning your trip around Dublin events, or maybe a gastronomic tour is more your thing? Choose from hundreds of restaurants in Dublin, or just settle down inside for a cosy weekend in with a significant other. It will probably be raining, anyway! Curl up and enjoy the atmosphere inside one of your favourite hotels in Dublin. You won't regret it.
